8MinuteDating Arrives on the South Shore
Premieres at X&O European Trattoria
Find
Your Love Match in 8 Minutes at X&O - in the "Heart"
of Historic Quincy
Quincy,
MA (July 26, 2001) - X&O European Trattoria, located in the
"heart" of downtown, historic Quincy, will be the first
restaurant on the South Shore to host 8minuteDating - the
newest craze sweeping the nation. X&O will host 8minuteDating
every other Tuesday in the fall with the premier event taking place
for singles between the ages of 25 and 35 on September 11.
The
popularity of 8minuteDating has been growing rapidly as a hot, new
way for single professionals, pressed for time, to meet. The dating
phenomenon is all the rage in big cities like Boston, New York and
Washington and as such, has been the focus of such hit shows as:
"Frazier," based in Seattle, Wash., and "Sex in the
City," based in New York City, as well as the focus of stories
and studies in such popular magazines as Boston Magazine. The dating
trend bills itself as "the fastest, safest, and most enjoyable
way to meet new people despite busy lifestyles" - and now this
fad can be experienced by suburbanites at, the very appropriately
titled, X&O.
X&O
European Trattoria was so named in an effort to create an experience
that sounded inviting, making the restaurant an ideal setting for
socializing. Housed in the center of Quincy, the restaurant is in
a prime location for professionals to meet - whether it's to discuss
business or to simply socialize.
"8minuteDating
is a 'perfect match' for X&O and our clientele," said Manos
Gregoriades, X&O's president/owner. "It further compliments
our concept." Now this popularly titled restaurant is adding
an extra scoop of "Hugs and Kisses" to its events calendar
every other Tuesday night, beginning on September 11.
In
8minuteDating, adults attend events that span an age bracket of
10 years. Interested participants can simply log onto the X&O
web site at www.xoonline.net or the 8minuteDating web site, www.8minutedating.net
to sign up at a cost of $33.88 (which includes appetizers). When
participants arrive at X&O, they will be handed a name card,
which directs them to a particular table, where they will be joined
by another participant with the same table number. The pair will
have eight minutes to converse and if either party is at a loss
for words, the back of the card provides talking points. At the
end of the eight minutes, a bell will ring and each participant
will make notes on the back of his/her card and move on to the next
designated table.
After
four, eight-minute dates, there will be an intermission where people
can enjoy free appetizers and drinks at the cash bar and socialize
with other participants. There will then be another set of four,
eight-minute dates. People are encouraged to hang-around after the
established dates to converse with anyone they may have been interested
in or to simply enjoy the rest of the evening and socialize. At
no point in time are participants allowed to ask for contact information.
Instead, after the night is over, the participants simply log on
to the 8minuteDating website and type in the names of the people
they want to meet again. If a match occurs, the service sends both
participants the contact information.
8MinuteDating has received phenomenal response throughout Boston,
with more than 80 people attending the latest age 25-35 category
meeting. If the event receives similar response locally, X&O
could be hailed as an innovator of a new trend on the South Shore
singles scene.
